Slabs is not only a piece of art that can enhance the aesthetics of your space, but also a piece of artwork that brings harmony and refinement into your home. White Agate slab color is characterized by a milky white shade, and the product features delicate patterns that create a soothing look, which is why this material is used for countertops, backsplashes, and even flooring. But to ensure that this natural stone remains as beautiful as when it was first put in place, there is the need to clean and maintain it accordingly. At Divya Gem Stonex, we follow certain steps to maintain the natural attractiveness of the slabs and make them last longer.
Cleaning your Slab regularly is the first step towards ensuring its proper maintenance. Since it is a porous gemstone, agate tends to soak up stains and liquids if not cleaned properly. First, clean the surface daily with a clean, damp cloth, without using any detergents. This serves to free the surface from dust, dirt, and other forms of stains as well as mild ones. Do not use any harsh scrubbers, such as steel wool or tough sponges, as these can cause scratches on the surface. Use a mild cleanser, ideally one with a neutral pH, for stains that are hard to get rid of. Add some of this cleaner to warm water and use a cloth to clean the slab in a circular motion. It is recommended to wipe the surface dry after cleaning to avoid the formation of stains.
Despite proper maintenance, your Slab may still have some stains from time to time. In this case, it is very important to take action as soon as possible. For organic stains on the carpet such as coffee, wine, or even food spillage, make a paste with baking soda and water. Rub this mixture on the affected area, and then place a piece of plastic wrap over the stained area and leave it for 24 hours. Then, using a clean and moist cloth, carefully remove the paste from the surface. For oil-based stains, you may want to use a paste of flour and hydrogen peroxide. Put the powder on in the same way, leave it on overnight, and then remove it.
Sealing the slab is a great way to maintain it and prevent damage. We suggest sealing your agate slab at least once a year, based on its application. The right type of stone sealer will seal the surface and prevent the penetration of liquid substances, thus minimizing the chances of staining. To apply, it is recommended that the surface be cleaned and free from dirt and moisture. Next, apply the sealer uniformly using a soft cloth or a brush and let it dry as per the direction of the manufacturer. After that, you should polish the surface to give it a glossy finish.
It may also fade with time and lose some of its sheen, depending on how often you use your Slab. This is where professional polishing comes in to help get the surface back to looking like new again. In case you want to get the surface polished and/or the sealer reapplied, it is recommended to contact a stone care professional. This process will restore the stone so that it looks as good as it did when it was first placed.
